MGA KATUTUBONG LARO / NATIVE GAMES

Long time ago when there were no electricity, televisions, playstations, videokes, xbox's, there were the great games of Filipinos. Games that build friendships, strengthen family relationships, and create enjoyment to every person playing. These are the pastime of our grandparents.

No televisions! Takip Silim, Taguan, Patintero were being played at exactly what we call now primetime of television, that's 5pm-9pm. In the early 80's, these games are slowly being taken away from the community and substituted by watching tv.

In the early 90's to the present, television has dominated the time instead of people to play outdoor. Filipinos were fascinated by the new technology and were given the choice where to stay before going to sleep. The world of entertainment through tv won the primetime.

Not long ago, there were Agawan Base, Chato or Siatong, Habulan Estatwa, and Tumbang Preso for the kids to enjoy. Now videogames, like nintendo, xbox, playstations captured the hearts of the kids and youths alike. And the undending soap operas stick altogether in the living room.

Despite all the changes, those native games of the past that each of us played are etched in our minds forever.
