Surigao Del Norte

Bounded by the famous Philippine Deep, and the ocean which covers almost half of the world, the Pacific Ocean, Surigao del Norte Paradise Philippines consisting of different island with its own unique beauty. Republic Act 2736 dated June 19, 1960, Surigao was divided into Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur. This province is the northernmost province of Mindanao. It occupies 2,740 square kilometers and is a home for the ethnic tribe called Mamanwa. Its people never ashamed of their culure instead they showcase culture and talents in their own festival “Bonok-bonok” which is their way of appreciation for a good harvest, held yearly on September 10. The Islands of Surigao is rich with minerals. One of the world’s largest deposits of nickel is found in Nonoc Island, and chromite can be found in Dinagat Island, limestone and sand and gravel are bountiful in other smaller islands. Each of the islands has springs, waterfalls, lagoons and other scenic view that is nature made.

The province is the best place for ecotourism. Mangrove covers 175 square kilometers, its beaches also has sea grass beds and coral reefs: Truly a great home for thousand species of fish and other marine life. Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands offers a long stretch of beaches with fine sand and huge waves perfect for surfing. Underwater caves are also found in the province such as the Suhoton Cave and Bucas Grande, this great assets could only be explored during low tide. No wonder, Surigao del Norte Paradise Philippines is a hit for nature loving tourist and surfers from foreign countries and neighboring cities.
